Celtic need  to strengthen their squad in a few positions this summer, one of them is definitely left-back. It has been viewed as an area of weakness in this team ever since Kieran Tierney left in the summer of 2019 to join Arsenal in a Scottish record £25 million transfer move. Since then, the club have tried several players in the position but nobody has quite succeeded.

It must be said that Greg Taylor had a decent campaign under the management of Ange Postecoglou and has shown definite signs of improvement in recent times. But the Hoops still need to bring in another left-back to provide him with some competition.

They have been linked with the likes of Mohanad Jeahze of Hammarby, Erick Otieno of AIK and Francisco Ortego of Velez Sarsfield recently. But it looks like they could be set to complete a move for a player who has not been linked with the club.

As reported by Football Scotland, Celtic are closing in on Alexandro Bernabei of Lanus. The 21-year-old Argentine could arrive in Glasgow in the coming days.

Celtic could complete move for Argentine left-back in the coming days

Bernabei has represented Argentina at youth level and despite being just 21 years of age, he has plenty of experience at the senior level.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Bernabei has made 85 appearances for Lanus in total till now, scoring 5 goals and providing 10 assists in the process of doing so.

If Celtic are able to sign the Argentine left-back it could be a major coup on their part. The team have a very decent record in the transfer market ever since the arrival of Postecoglou as manager, as he seems to have a very good idea of who will fit into his system.

On the other hand, if Bernabei does end up at Parkhead, it could be good for Taylor as well, as competition is always important for the development of a player.
