Celtic are expected to do their fair share of business in the summer transfer window. No major changes are thought to be required as this is a squad that managed to win the Premiership and League Cup double despite dealing with injuries to key players throughout the season. But at the same time, they will be returning to the Champions League group stage after several years and must be keen to make a positive impression in Europe.

Thus, it will be important to bring in the right players. At the same time though, the club will need to let go of those, who have very little chance of making an impact on Ange Postecoglou’s first-team, either on a permanent basis or on loan.

One such player could be Liam Scales, who has struggled to find a regular spot for himself in the playing XI. Recently though, he has been linked with a move to Aberdeen.

As reported by the Daily Record, a move to Aberdeen could be delayed for Scales until Celtic get more players back from injury.

Celtic player’s transfer exit could be delayed due to injuries

Celtic are not expected to stand in Scales’ way if he does intend to leave the club this summer. Recent rumours have suggested that he is very open to joining Aberdeen.

Scales was a standout during his time at Shamrock Rovers and many even believed that he was good enough to be a regular starter for Celtic. That has not turned out to be the case though and he has not been a regular feature in the team, even off the bench.

Carl Starfelt recently suffered an injury while on international duty though and that could potentially end up causing a delay in any potential exit for Scales.

It is believed that Aberdeen would prefer to sign him on a permanent basis but a loan move looks more likely under the current circumstances.
