Celtic are looking to sign Jota on a permanent basis from Benfica this summer after the Portuguese winger impressed during his loan spell at Parkhead. He was one of the major parts of Ange Postecoglou’s side, as they lifted the Premiership and the Scottish League Cup against all odds. Next season could be even bigger though, with Champions League group stage football returning to the club after years.

Thus, Celtic would surely want to keep hold of Jota going into such a vital campaign. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 13 goals and provided 14 assists in 40 appearances for the club last season.

Celtic are believed to have an option to buy of a transfer fee around €7.5 million included in the loan deal for Jota but are yet to complete a permanent move for him. And now, there appears to be an update on the reason behind that.

As reported by the Daily Record, Celtic are still in discussions with Jota over wages and the length of his contract. The Hoops have already agreed to pay the option to buy transfer fee of €7.5 million or £6.4 million.

Why Jota to Celtic is still not complete revealed

It is believed that the Jota to Celtic move is only a matter of time and will be over the line soon. But with every day that passes, the fans will get more and more nervous about the situation.

At the end of the day, their record when it comes to getting deals over the line is not good at all, and has seen them miss out on several top class players in recent times.

Hopefully, that will not be the case when it comes to Jota. The Portuguese winger has enjoyed a career rejuvenation at Parkhead, and it might be the best step for both the club and the player for him join on a permanent basis.
