Celtic have had a great record when it comes to signing players since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou. The manager seems to have a great vision of who he wants in his system of football and till now, it has worked out more often than not. The Hoops’ track record of transfers had not been nearly as impressive before the previous two transfer windows though, with several failing to make an impact at Parkhead.

One such player was Lewis Morgan, who arrived at Celtic with a lot of expectations but failed to match them, and would ultimately leave for the MLS.

He has been a major success in Major League Soccer though, having already played for two of their most prominent clubs in the form of Inter Miami and New York Red Bulls. Morgan has been in great form this season. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 7 goals and provided an assist in 15 appearances.

He recently grabbed the headlines by scoring a stunning volley for New York Red Bulls from outside of the box. There were not many of those moments during his stint at Celtic and Morgan has speculated why that was the case. As reported by Glasgow Live, he said:

"“It is well documented that I had a couple of injury problems when I was there and sometimes you just need everything to fall into place and sometimes that doesn’t happen.”"

He also added:

"“Quite a lot of my time was maybe filling in at different positions. You have got to do that at a club like that with the competition for places and quality of squad we had.”"

It is safe to say that although he had a couple of games here and there, Morgan never quite shined in a Celtic jersey.

He has been a standout player after moving to the United States though and as he continues to thrive, one has to wonder whether Celtic decided to let him go a little too early and could have given him further chances.

It is great to see Morgan doing so well though and we can only wish him the best moving forward. On the other hand, Celtic have very little to complain about themselves and are in a great position right now.
