In an amazing season for Celtic, we have now seen a historic doubling up of the trophy wins as the players make sure Glasgow is truly green and white. More room in the Parkhead trophy room will be needed soon at this rate.
We’ve celebrated Ange Postecoglou, along with captain Callum McGregor, leading the Hoops to a Scottish League Cup and Premiership triumph. Now, they are joined by the Celtic FC Women team manager, Fran Alonso, and skipper, Kelly Clark, as they completed their own double at the weekend.
In a thrilling Scottish Cup final against Glasgow City, the Celtic FC Women secured a 3-2 win after extra time. And that was despite being down to only 10 players for the majority of the game after defender Jodie Bartle was controversially sent off in the first half itself.
It has been quite a turnaround in fortunes for the Hoops team and their rivals, Glasgow City. This is the first season in 18 years that the opponents haven’t secured a trophy. It’s also the first Scottish Cup win for Celtic FC Women and they had not won a double before this either. The focus has to turn towards the Scottish Women’s Premier League now, a competition that they have never won.
This could be a turning point for Celtic FC Women and the fans
It was a game which may well represent a real turning point for both Celtic FC Women and for the club’s fans in general. Social media was full of congratulatory messages and it’s very evident that the match itself and the historic result has caught the attention of many supporters, who are new to following the women’s team.

My daughter is a big Celtic fan and this was her first time to watch them play. The fact it was the womens team and that you won is going to have her smiling for months
Thank you 💚
What a great season for @CelticFC With Celtic women winning the Scottish cup yesterday that means that of the 6 competition available to the men’s and women’s teams Celtic won 4 of them.

Yesterday Celtic women were great. Their crowds are going to grow. #COYGIG #CelticFC
The Hoops fans always love to see good football and a winning performance. So, this cup double and a very successful season could see even more of them turn their attention towards Celtic FC Women alongside the men’s team. It’s going to be very interesting to see what impact this could have on women’s football in Scotland as a whole in the long run.
