Celtic have enjoyed a brilliant 2021/22 campaign as Ange Postecoglou guided them to a Premiership and League Cup double in his first season in charge of a top division European club. Naturally, the future looks bright for the Hoops with guaranteed Champions League football next time around and a Scottish crown to defend from the Rangers as well. Thus, they will need to improve their squad this summer.

One of the areas that Celtic need to bring reinforcements in is defensive midfield. There is a massive hole there with Nir Bitton ending his 9-year run at Parkhead.

On top of that, the likes of Yosuke Ideguchi, James McCarthy and Ismaila Soro, three players that one would expect to contribute there, barely featured in Postecoglou’s side throughout the course of the 2021/22 season. Thus, Celtic do need to bring in a new defensive midfielder.

They are being linked with a surprising name there though. As reported by Homme du Match (via Daily Record), FC Metz star Kevin N’Doram is a target for Celtic. He is believed to be rated at a transfer fee around £2 million and although he has been a key player for his current club, he could be on the lookout for a new team this summer, after being relegated.

N’Doram broke through into the senior level at AS Monaco after coming through their youth ranks but was never quite able to establish himself there as a regular starter. As a result, he would end up moving to FC Metz, where he was a key member of the team.

He struggled with injuries in the recent season though and his absence surely played its part in them getting relegated.

Now, it remains to be seen if Celtic do end up making a move for the defensive midfielder this summer.

Postecoglou has certainly shown an eye for picking out players who fit his system of football and as a result, if the club do indeed end up signing N’Doram, fans should be excited. One thing that makes him a perfect replacement for Bitton is the fact that just like the Israeli international, the FC Metz star can play in defence as well.
