Celtic will know that they need to strengthen their squad over the course of the summer transfer window. Having won an unexpected Premiership title in Ange Postecoglou’s first season in charge, they have the Scottish crown to defend in the upcoming campaign. On top of that, they will be making their long-awaited return to the Champions League main stage as well. Thus, the Hoops must make sure that the team can compete in Europe’s elite competition.
It does look like they are taking steps in the right direction. The club have already gotten a deal over the line for Daizen Maeda. Rumours have suggested that personal terms have been agreed with Cameron Carter-Vickers as well. And now, it looks like a move for Jota is only a matter of time too.
Jota was on a season-long loan from Benfica and has been one of the key players for Celtic in their recently-concluded campaign. And it appears that the Hoops have managed to find a breakthrough in signing him on a permanent basis from the Portuguese club.
Anthony Joseph of Sky Sports, tweeted out that Celtic are closing in on a permanent transfer and a deal is expected to be completed this week as Jota has told Benfica of his wishes to remain with the Hoops:

Sky Sports man hands Celtic massive transfer boost
If Celtic are able to get a deal for Jota over the line, it would be considered as a huge boost for the club.
The Portuguese winger has been absolutely brilliant ever since arriving at Parkhead. While his record at Benfica and on loan at Real Valladolid had been unimpressive, he has looked like a player transformed in Postecoglou’s side.
Not only has he helped Celtic with his goals and assists, but also with his trickery, ability to get past a man and pop up in the right place at the right time.
