Celtic have overperformed all expectations this season, winning the Premiership and the Scottish League Cup. Not a lot of fans had many hopes from this side when Ange Postecoglou arrived, following the disastrous 2020/21 campaign, when the club finished trophyless and 25 points behind the Rangers in the league. This has looked like a team transformed.

As a result of their achievements this season, hopes will be high next time around though, especially with them returning to the Champions League group stage after so many years.

Thus, it will be very interesting to see how Celtic strengthen their squad over the summer. While it will be important for them to sign new players, it will be just as important to hold on to the likes of Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers.

As reported by the Daily Record, Carter-Vickers has agreed personal terms with Celtic and the club now have three weeks to conclude a deal with Tottenham Hotspur. But as tweeted out by Larry Henry Jr, Everton and Fulham are in the race for the defender, should the Hoops not agree to a transfer prior to June 15 while Bournemouth are expected to be back in the mix as well:

It has to be said that Celtic are the favourites at this point of time when it comes to the Carter-Vickers race but as we know, things can change in football quickly, especially when it comes to agreeing a transfer fee.

It is believed that Celtic have an option to buy included in the loan which would see them shell out an initial £6 million transfer fee but it could rise up to £10 million with add-ons. That would immediately make him one of the most expensive signings in the history of the club.

Celtic appear to have gotten past the hurdle of convincing the player that Parkhead is the best step forward for his career, despite the considerable amount interest in his signature from other Premier League clubs. Now, it will be about them agreeing a deal with Tottenham Hotspur.

Hopefully, the club will able to get it done as soon as possible because Carter-Vickers has become one of the most important players in Postecoglou’s side and him leaving the club would be a major blow for the Hoops ahead of the upcoming campaign.
