Signing Cameron Carter-Vickers on a permanent basis has to be at or near the top of Celtic’s summer wish list. The defender was brought in on loan from Tottenham Hotspur on a season-long loan. At the time, a lot of eyebrows were raised as he had never been a regular for the North London club and instead, had spent time out on loan at a series of Championship clubs.

It is safe to say that Carter-Vickers has exceeded all expectations at Celtic. He has been a defensive rock at the back and improved the club’s defence immensely over the course of the season.

Defence was viewed as an area of weakness for the Hoops not too long ago but that is no longer the case. In the eyes of many, Carter-Vickers was the club’s Player of the Season.

Amidst all this, the Daily Record have tweeted out their front page for tomorrow and it states that Celtic have agreed wages with Carter-Vickers and have three weeks to seal permanent transfer from Tottenham Hotspur:

Celtic have reportedly agreed wages with Carter-Vickers

It goes without saying that this is a huge boost for Celtic and if they are able to get a permanent deal over the line for Carter-Vickers, it will leave the club in a brilliant position.

A permanent deal for Maeda has already been agreed and recent rumours have suggested that Jota is ready to join Celtic as well, with the Hoops believed to be ready to exercise the €7.5 million option to buy included in his loan deal from Benfica.

The club have option to buy in Carter-Vickers’ loan deal as well. It is believed that it is a transfer fee around £6 million which could rise up to £10 million with add-ons. That would immediately make the defender one of the most expensive signings in Celtic history but with the way that he has played this season, it might very well be a move worth making.
