Celtic have done a wonderful job this season of getting back on track after what was a disastrous 2020/21 campaign, that saw them finish 25 points behind the Rangers and without a single piece of silverware as well. This time around, they have managed to win the Premiership as well as the Scottish League Cup, in Ange Postecoglou’s first season as manager of the club.
Thus, it is safe to say that the future looks bright for the Hoops, who have already booked their place in the group stage of next season’s Champions League, as a result of winning the league.
One would expect Celtic to strengthen their squad further over the course of the summer as they return to Europe’s elite competition after years and must be eager to make an impression. But, could their be players heading in the opposite direction in the near future.
One man who has been linked with a move away in recent times is Liel Abada, who has enjoyed a very promising debut campaign at Celtic. When asked about the rumours linking him with a move to Crystal Palace, the 20-year-old told Ynet (via HITC):
"“I’m only dealing with Celtic right now.“I’m good here. I love the players, the crowd and the team. I get a sense of home and all my focus is here. In the future? I cannot know what will happen and it’s not right to talk about it.”"
Celtic star comments on transfer rumours linking him with a move to Crystal Palace
Abada has enjoyed a very promising debut campaign with Celtic, especially considering the fact that he is just 20 years of age.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 15 goals and provided 11 assists in 54 appearances across all competitions for Celtic.
Thus, while some questions have been raised about the youngster recently, nobody can question the effect that he can make on a game of football. As a result, the Hoops must be keen on holding on to Abada for the foreseeable future.
Crystal Palace have already signed one of Celtic’s best players in the form of Odsonne Edouard last summer. Could they look to repeat the trick next summer?
