Nir Bitton makes brilliant Celtic admission to Israeli media

Nir Bitton might not have always been a regular first-team starter for Celtic, but he was an important member of the squad throughout his nine-season long run at the club. As a result, it was sad to see him bring the curtain down on his Parkhead career and the Israeli international was visibly emotional as well. But at the same time, it was good see that he could finish it on a high by lifting the Premiership title and celebrating with the fans one last time.

Bitton is still just 30 years of age and should have plenty of football left in the tank. It is believed that the club wanted to give him a contract extension but the player wanted a new challenge.

Many have felt though that his importance to this Celtic team had decreased in recent years and questioned why he had not decided to leave the club earlier on his career.

As reported by 67 Hail Hail, in an interviewed published by Mako, Bitton said:

"“I have no feeling of missing out. [I had] Nine years in one of the biggest clubs in British football. If Celtic were in the Premier League it would be a top 4 team in size. I was in a huge club.“I think when people in this country talk about the Scottish League it is a little underrated. It’s not weak.”"

It is great to see that Bitton holds Celtic in such high esteem. People from other countries often don’t realise the sheer size of the support that the Hoops have, even worldwide when you consider all things.

It is easily one of the best supported clubs on the planet, a fact that often manages to fly under the radar simply because of the fact that they compete in the Scottish Premiership.

If clubs like Celtic and the Rangers competed in the Premier League, they would easily be recognised as one of the on the planet.
