While the celebrations after winning the Premiership title still go on, Celtic have announced a shocking bit of information this morning as two first-team stars have decided to leave the club, with one being a particular surprise after the brilliant 2021/22 campaign and career revival that he had enjoyed following the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as manager.

It is none other than Tom Rogic and Nir Bitton who will be leaving after their respective near decade-long runs at the club.

Celtic confirmed the news on Twitter, wishing both best of luck. And it is safe to say that a lot of fans will have been caught off guard by the news that Rogic will be leaving.

Not only has he been a key part of the team this season, but he was also nominated for player of the year honours, showing how well he has done since the arrival of the manager over the summer. Thus, most would have expected him to stay on at Parkhead for the foreseeable future. The departure of Nir Bitton was much more expected and comes after a few days of speculation and rumours.

Rogic set to leave Celtic in major shock

It is safe to say that Rogic was still a huge part of this Celtic first-team picture and started his fair share of games this season. According to stats from Transfermarkt, the Australian made 49 appearances this season, scoring 6 goals and providing 10 assists.

Of course, the club have back up in the form of David Turnbull and Matt O’Riley but it is still sad to see Rogic leaving at the top of his game, after rediscovering his best after so long. We can only wish him the best of luck moving forward.

On the other hand, Bitton might not have been a regular in the starting XI under the management of Postecoglou but he had a key role to play as well, and played some of his best football in recent years this time around as Celtic clinched an unlikely double.

It goes without saying that both will be missed and we will be looking forward to see what the next step of their careers are. On the other hand, Celtic will have to sign replacements for both in the summer, as they had important roles in the first-team that will need to fulfilled.
