Viewed as an area of weakness at the start of the campaign, right-back has emerged as one of Celtic’s stronger positions over the course of the season. Josip Juranovic has shown what he is capable of on multiple occasions. On the other hand, Anthony Ralston has been a super solid back up option, showing improvement in both phases of his game and coming up with some big moments that have contributed to their chase for the Premiership title.

Yet, it looks like Celtic might have another right-back in their sights when the transfer window opens in the summer.

The club are rumoured to be closing in on a move for Hammarby left-back Mohanad Jeahze. Now, as reported by VI, Celtic are one of the clubs interested in a move for SC Heerenveen defender, Milan van Ewijk. The other clubs also being linked with the Dutchman are Stade Brest, Lille, PSV and Queens Park Rangers.

Many Celtic fans must remember that the club had been linked with a move for the right-back last year as well, when he was at ADO Den Haag although that never materialised.

Celtic interested in move for Eredivisie star

Celtic have been excellent this season when you consider the circumstances that had surrounded the club coming into the campaign. Ange Postecoglou deserves massive credit for that. They are just a point away from winning the Premiership and booking their place in next season’s Champions League.

Keeping that in mind, they must continue improving the squad though, and there is a lot of room for that as well.

While Postecoglou’s side might have done very well in domestic competitions, they were pretty disappointing in Europe and that is an area that they will need to work on, especially with the Rangers reaching the Europa League final and showing that Scottish clubs can still thrive on the continental stage.

Van Ewijk is clearly someone that Celtic have had their eyes on for a while but it remains to be seen if they can finally bring him to Parkhead. Also, what would a move for the 21-year-old Dutch full-back mean for Ralston’s future at the club?
