Scott Brown sends emotional response to Celtic tribute

Celtic legend Scott Brown confirmed the rumours that had been floating around since he left Aberdeen earlier this season, by announcing his retirement from the pitch and hanging up his boots once and for all. It was truly an honour to witness one of the most decorated careers in the history of the Scottish game but it is good to know that Broony will finally have the chance to rest his arms, which must have been sore from lifting so many trophies.

He did not get the farewell he deserved. He departed Celtic in front of an empty Parkhead and then his time at Aberdeen came to an end abruptly as well, after manager Stephen Glass was shown the exit door.

Many fans have asked for him to be the one to present the Premiership trophy to Callum McGregor, as the Hoops are just one point away from being crowned champions of Scotland.

The club did post a video tribute to Brown today and Broony decided to send an emotional response to it on Twitter:

What a player Broony was in his prime! And what a leader as well, one of the best captains in the history of the game.

It looks like Brown has his eyes set on management next. He had joined Aberdeen in a player-coach role.

He has been linked with jobs both in Scotland (Raith Rovers) and down South (Fleetwood Town) recently. Some rumours had even suggested that he could return to coach the Celtic youth sides with an eye on eventually moving up the ranks to the first-team level but nothing has come of it yet.

We can only wish him the best of luck in whatever he decides to do next. Thank you Broony. Thank you for all the memories. Thank you for everything.
