Celtic are expected to be headed for a much calmer summer transfer window when compared to the chaos that surrounded the club the last time around, when twelve players had arrived, ten on a permanent basis on two on loan with an option to buy included in both deals. On the other hand, several key players had left the club and several loanees had returned to their respective teams as well after what had been a terrible 2020/21 campaign for the Hoops.

This time around, the picture looks much rosier, as Celtic are closing in on an unexpected double. No major contracts look on the verge of running out either, except for the loan deals of Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers, although there is optimism that they can sign the duo on a permanent basis.

Nir Bitton seems to be one player who could end up leaving this summer though. He has had to spend the majority of his time sitting on the bench and rumours have suggested that he is eyeing a return to Israel. His recent Instagram stories, of himself with his children inside an empty Celtic Park, do hint at a potential exit as well.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, Maccabi Tel Aviv and Maccabi Haifa are two clubs tracking the situation of Bitton.

Bitton could be headed for Celtic exit this summer

While Bitton might not be a first-team star at Celtic, he does still have a key role in this squad. As a result, if he did end up leaving, the Hoops will have to bring in a replacement for him, especially with question marks over Reo Hatate after his poor run of form.

Bitton has been at Celtic since 2013 and has been part of one of the most successful periods in the club’s history. And if this is the end of the road for him at Parkhead, he can leave with his head held high.

Nothing is certain till now, but if Bitton is indeed leaving Celtic this summer, we can only thank him for his service to the club over the years and wish the best of luck moving forward.
