3 Serie A players Celtic should try to sign this summer
Milan Djuric
One of the most underrated centre-forwards in the top-tier of Italian football, Milan Djuric has everything it takes to become a star for a club like Celtic. Perhaps he is so undervalued because of his low goal returns and because he plays for a side in the middle of a relegation battle. But what a lot of people ignore is his all-around ability to orchestrate a team’s attacking flow.
Thanks to his incredible physique, he can shield the ball very well with his back to goal against the biggest of defenders in Italy. Thanks to his towering frame of 6 ft 6 in, the centre-forward is a threat inside the box from set-pieces and can also help the team defend corners and free-kicks at the other end of the pitch.
Before signing with Salernitana, Djuric spent some time in England with Bristol City. Thus, he is well acquainted with the nature of English football, which is pretty similar to the Scottish game.
But bearing in mind that Djuric has so many abilities, some might question: how much it would take to bring him to Glasgow? Well, his contract runs out this summer, meaning he is available as a free agent this summer.
On the other hand, Salernitana are battling relegation in Serie A right now and are one of the favourites to go down by the end of the season. If they were to go down, the club would have no leverage to hold onto the striker by convincing him to extend his deal with the club.
Celtic should consider signing Djuric this summer as he appears to be a hidden gem of the 2021/22 Serie A campaign and he is exactly the kind of physical presence up top that the Hoops do not have in their ranks at the moment.
