Signing Cameron Carter-Vickers from Tottenham Hotspur on a permanent basis has to be one of the first things on Celtic’s summer wishlist. There were a lot of questions about the United States international when the Hoops brought him in in the last stages of the summer transfer window but over the course of the season, he has proven to be an inspired signing.

One could argue that he has been Celtic’s best player this season and has certainly been one of the most consistent, not having dealt with any major injury problems till now either.

Thus, it would be a major coup on the part of the club if they are able to sign Carter-Vickers on a permanent basis from Tottenham Hotspur. They are believed to have an option to buy included in the loan deal which could rise up to as much as £10 million with add-ons.

That is a huge deal for Celtic to say the least. And now, Larry Henry Jr, who has been on top of the Carter-Vickers situation since last summer, has delivered an update. He tweeted out:

"“Celtic continues its talks to add Cameron Carter-Vickers this summer, a source close to the player confirmed. Despite other reports from abroad, nothing has been agreed upon yet. Deal likely to get done after Celtic’s final league matches.”"

Thus, it appears that we will have to wait until the end of the season before any firm decision is made on the future of Carter-Vickers. There are still 3 league games to go for Celtic, with the Hoops needing just 4 more points to be crowned the champions of Scotland, for the 10th time in the past 11 seasons.

The club and the fans would surely be hoping that they are able to find a way to get a permanent deal over the line for Carter-Vickers but at the same time, a number of Premier League clubs are rumoured to be interested in him even though he is not believed to have a long-term future at Tottenham Hotspur.

Thus, it will be very interesting to see how things turn out in the Carter-Vickers transfer race over the coming weeks and months.
