Once upon a time, Leigh Griffiths was one of the best players in all of Scotland and he had even managed to find the back of the net 40 times in a single season for Celtic. Those days are long gone though and what remains is a player struggling to rediscover his form. The Hoops parted ways with the striker earlier on in this campaign and now, it looks like his career has continued its decline.

Griffiths, in a somewhat surprising move, had ended up joining Falkirk after leaving Celtic. While he might have struggled for the Hoops for a while, and then on loan at Dundee earlier in this season, one would have expected him to make his mark and score some goals for the Scottish League One side.

That has not turned out to be the case though. According to stats from Transfermarkt, Griffiths scored 2 goals and provided 2 assists in 13 appearances for Falkirk.

And now, as reported by Falkirk’s official website, Griffiths is one of the players who will be leaving the club at the end of this season, when his contract with the League One side runs out.

Former Celtic star’s Falkirk career is over after just 3 months

It is safe to say that Griffiths must have been hoping for a much more successful stint with Falkirk when he joined the club back in February of this year but it just has not happened for the former Celtic star.

It is almost sad to see Griffiths’ decline. When he was at his best, he was an incredible striker. In fact, he was Celtic’s top scorer in the decade between 2010 and 2020.

It is unlikely though that we will get to see Griffiths at his best again. While he is still just 31 years of age, he has been nowhere near his best for years, except for a brief spell in the second half of the 2019/20 campaign when he turned back the clock and looked like a brilliant goalscorer once again.
