Celtic are leading the race to win the Scottish Premiership title. Under the management of Ange Postecoglou, the Hoops have already enjoyed some brilliant moments this season, including winning the Scottish League Cup, beating the Rangers twice, and with the Glasgow Derby draw, they took another step closer to the league trophy. And all these happened in a campaign that was thought to be a transitional one for the club.

One man who has made a huge impact is Joe Hart. Signed by Celtic last summer, the Manchester City legend has enjoyed a career revival at Parkhead following a few tough years in England, when he struggled for first-team chances.

Nevertheless, the Englishman’s brilliant form with the gloves has been bad news for Vasilis Barkas. Signed from AEK Athens for a transfer fee believed to be around £4.5 million in the summer transfer window of 2020, the Greek goalkeeper has struggled massively since then.

Rumours suggest that he is expected to leave Celtic this summer, and that would leave them in need of a replacement.

Celtic plotting move for brilliant Bodo/Glimt goalkeeper

As reported by Football Insider, Celtic are plotting a move for Bodo/Glimt goalkeeper, Nikita Haikin, this summer. He played a big role in the Norwegian team’s run to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa Conference League, during which they knocked out the Hoops as well. His current deal with the club runs out at the end of the year though.

With Barkas looking set to part ways with Celtic in the summer, this could be a smart move on the part of the Hoops. Bodo/Glimt are believed to be open to letting Haikin go this summer if any club shells out a £500,000 transfer fee for the goalkeeper.

Other than Celtic, Wolves are also believed to be monitoring the situation of Haikin. Also, earlier rumours suggested that Watford and Norwich City had kept a keen eye on the player’s progress before the January transfer window.

Of course, just because he has done well at Bodo/Glimt does not mean that he would do well at Celtic. Barkas had been a standout for AEK Athens as well. But at the same time, with Haikin’s transfer fee believed to be set at around £500,000, it would be a risk worth taking.
