Rangers manager makes interesting claim before Celtic game

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has some big selection decisions ahead of the game against Celtic on Sunday at Parkhead. The Rangers are still hopeful of grabbing hold of a trophy this season but are under a lot of pressure at the business end of the campaign. Their best chance could be in the Scottish Cup final, though Hearts may have something to say about that.

A 1-0 loss away at RB Leipzig leaves some hope of reaching a European final still alive, but the effort in Germany this week has left his resources somewhat drained.

The manager will have to work out the priorities though as the critical Premiership match against Celtic at Parkhead closes in. With the Hoops already 6 points ahead and holding a massive advantage on goal difference as well, a win on Sunday would virtually guarantee the title for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

But at the same time, Van Bronckhorst will also have to worry about the second leg against RB Leipzig, at Ibrox, which will be played just four days after the Glasgow Derby.

Van Bronckhorst appears to hint at squad rotation against Celtic

As reported by Football Scotland, Van Bronckhorst appeared to hint that he might need to rotate his squad against Celtic, as the Rangers manager said:

"“It’s still too early to say who is going to play or not, especially in these weeks when you have so many games.“You have to rotate players at some points but how many players? I will know tomorrow.”"

Postecoglou has a fuller squad to select his team from and the players will have had some rest as well over the week, ahead of Sunday’s match. And they must be solely focused on the task at hand instead of worrying about what kind of a team the Rangers might put out.

Celtic are expected to go for a win and try to all but secure the title. But at the same time, one has to remember how the last Glasgow Derby turned out, when the Rangers got the better of the Hoops despite playing 120 minutes in midweek ahead of that game.
