One of the key differences between Celtic under the management of Ange Postecoglou and Neil Lennon, is the success of the club’s signings. The Hoops barely got it right in the transfer market during the Northern Irishman’s second stint at Parkhead. The only one that deserves mention is Jeremie Frimpong, while Fraser Forster and Mohamed Elyounoussi did well while on loan from Southampton.

The picture looks very different since the arrival of Postecoglou though, who seems to have a very clear idea of the style of football he wants his side to play and an eye for the kind of players who fit into it. Kyogo, Giorgos Giakoumakis, Jota, Joe Hart, Josip Juranovic, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Liel Abada and several others have enjoyed brilliant seasons since arriving at Celtic.

One signing from the time of Lennon who is not fitting into the picture though is Boli Bolingoli. One could argue that he never did in the first place.

And as reported by The Scottish Sun, Postecoglou will let Bolingoli leave Celtic this summer, leaving the space in the squad for another left-back. They have been linked with Hammarby’s Mohanad Jeahze.

Celtic ready to let Bolingoli leave in the summer

Celtic signed Bolingoli from Rapid Vienna for a transfer fee believed to be around £3 million in the same summer that Kieran Tierney left for Arsenal. It is safe to say that he has not been able to replace the Scottish international or justify the figure the Hoops shelled out to bring him to Parkhead.

It had looked like the club had managed to send him out on loan to Russian club, FC Ufa, in the winter transfer window but the circumstances have meant that that move has not materialised.

Bolingoli has been pictured training on his own in Belgium recently and there seems to be very little chance of him featuring again for Celtic this season.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Bolingoli has only made 31 appearances for Celtic till now. Thus, it is safe to say that it was a transfer mistake on the part of the club to sign the Belgian, especially as a potential replacement for Tierney.
