Jota’s recent form has been up and down to say the least but he reminded everyone what he is capable of in Celtic’s 2-0 win over Ross County. He set up the first one with a brilliant assist for Kyogo Furuhashi’s header, and then he scored late on to ease the nerves and seal all three points for the Hoops, also restoring their 6 point lead over the Rangers as a result.

This was only the second game that Jota has scored in since the turn of the year, with the other one being a brace against Aberdeen.

Thus, his form has clearly faded away quite a bit when compared to how good he was in the first half of the season but the return of Kyogo appears to have brought him back to life, and might potentially be the key to getting him back to his best.

There are doubts over his long-term stay at Celtic though, with him only on a season-long loan currently. As reported by the Daily Record, when asked about whether he is thinking about his future, Jota told Sky Sports:

"“No, not a chance. I’m just enjoying it day by day and it’s been a terrific season for me.“I’m just enjoying getting to know the people around, be a better person, be a better football player.“I’m learning every day with really quality people so that’s what I’m doing, I don’t have to talk about that.“I just want to enjoy and give everything for this shirt.“Of course, as football players we need to keep our minds on the pitch, that’s all that matters.“Bureaucratic things are for other times, so let me just play football and enjoy it.”"

Will Celtic be able to keep Jota beyond this season?

As one would expect, Jota decided to keep his cards close to his chest although he did sound happy with how things are going at Celtic. Will he stay at the club beyond this season though?

Despite his inconsistency recently, one would expect Ange Postecoglou to be keen on keeping hold of one of his star players. On top of his game, Jota has shown that he is arguably the best player in all of Scotland.

Celtic do have an option to buy included in the loan deal believed to be in the region of £6 million to £6.5 million. But ultimately, it might come down to Jota and what he wants to do.

He knows exactly where he fits into Celtic’s starting XI. But at the same time, the lure of playing for his boyhood club, Benfica, might be strong as well.
