Ange Postecoglou makes honest Kyogo admission after Celtic win

Kyogo Furuhashi marked his return to the Celtic starting XI by scoring the important opener against Ross County, as the Hoops grabbed a 2-0 win away at Victoria Park to restore their 6 point lead over the Rangers at the top of the Premiership table. And with Ange Postecoglou’s side also enjoying a vastly superior goal difference, two wins from the last four league games should be enough to guarantee them the title.

Kyogo had arguably been Celtic’s best player in the first half of the season before picking up an injury in December, that kept him out of action for more than three months.

He had come off the bench in the previous two games, against St Johnstone and the Rangers, but started this one. And while he looked good, scored a wonderful header to open the scoring and probably should have been given a second, the Japanese star did look slightly off the pace.

That is understandable though considering how long he has been out of action for. Even Postecoglou has admitted that he is not 100 per cent sharp and probably would have scored more on another day. As reported by the Daily Record, the manager told Sky Sports:

"“Kyogo has missed a big chunk of the season and he’s a helluva player. We’ve done well without him but it’s great to have him back.“He’s still not 100 per cent sharp and would probably have had two or three today on his best form but great that he got a goal as his reward.”"

Who should start for Celtic against the Rangers?

The upcoming game against the Rangers is one of the most important for Celtic’s season and a win would virtually crown them the Scottish Premiership champions. And even a draw would be a very positive result. They must avoid defeat at all costs though.

It will be very interesting to see who does start for Celtic up top in that game. While Kyogo might have scored against Ross County, Giorgos Giakoumakis is an option who cannot be ignored.

He has arguably been the club’s best player since the turn of the year, and incidentally, Celtic have won both the Glasgow Derbies in which he has started up front for them.

Thus, Postecoglou has a decision to make for sure. One that could have major implications on the fate of the Premiership title.
