Celtic have made huge strides under the management of Ange Postecoglou. The club have already won the Scottish League Cup and could very well be on their way to winning the Premiership title, enjoying a 3-point lead over the Rangers despite having played a game less than them. While there is a lot more work to be done, it is certainly a good position to be in heading into the post-split fixtures.
The club must already have one eye on the upcoming summer transfer window though. Celtic have surely impressed but there are a lot of areas where they can improve further.
One player who has been particularly good for Celtic is Cameron Carter-Vickers. He has come in and helped solidify the defence, which was viewed as an area of weakness for the Hoops in recent times. The United States international is only on a season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur at the moment though.
As reported by SBI Soccer, Celtic are in advanced talks to sign Carter-Vickers on a permanent deal. But Leicester City, as well as Wolves and Watford, have all expressed interest in the defender.
Could Carter-Vickers turn down Celtic for Premier League move?
There have been conflicting rumours surrounding Carter-Vickers and what he wants to do next. Some have suggested that he wants to remain at Celtic while others suggest that he would prefer to play in the Premier League if possible.
As reported by GIVEMESPORT, transfer insider Dean Jones said recently:
"“In terms of Carter-Vickers, the player has not made a decision yet.“It sounds to me like he would rather be in the Premier League if possible, but he needs to see what opportunities genuinely open up.”"
If it ultimately did come down to the finances of the deal, a Premier League club would not have much trouble getting the better of Celtic.
Carter-Vickers is already settled in at Celtic though and knows exactly where he fits into the starting XI. A move to a different club would see him have to start from square one once again. And it does not feel like he has a future at Tottenham Hotspur.
Also, there is a good possibility that the Hoops could find themselves in the Champions League main stage next season, if they are able to win the Premiership. And that should play a part in the defender’s decision.
