Having earned 82 points from 33 Premiership games so far, Ange Postecoglou is closing in on bringing the Premiership trophy back to Celtic Park, in his debut season as the manager of the Glasgow giants. Of course, they are also competing for the Scottish Cup, and will face the Rangers in the semi finals, who will surely try to stop the Hoops from another domestic treble.

Regardless of whether they manage to win both titles or not, the Hoops have already surpassed everyone’s expectations by firstly winning the Scottish League Cup and then doing their best to establish themselves as the favourites for the league title with just five more games left to be played.

Tom Rogic’s transformation, in particular, has caught the eyes of many, with the Australian international star playing a big part in making Postecoglou’s first season in Scotland a success.

When Postecoglou arrived as Celtic manager, there were hopes that he would be able to get the best out of Rogic. He has done that and then some.

Former Rangers manager urges Celtic to extend Rogic’s contract

While speaking with Football Insider, the former Rangers and Scotland manager, Alex McLeish, praised the the 29-year-old Australian international for his performances this season and has urged Celtic to extend Rogic’s contract:

"“It’s taken his countryman, Postecoglou, to come in and show the faith in him again.“And he’s rewarded his gaffer with some incredible performances.“I would have thought Celtic would make it a high priority to get Tom on board for a few more seasons.”"

Rogic’s current contract at Celtic runs until the summer of 2023, with the Australian having last extended his deal during the Brendan Rodgers era. The general feeling is that the club should look to agree an extension with Rogic, to wane off any growing interest in the midfielder.

Rogic played a huge part in the club’s last Glasgow Derby win, 2-1 away at Ibrox. Celtic play the Rangers in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup on Sunday, and the fans will surely be hoping that he can put in a similar performance on the day.
