Kris Boyd makes incredible Rangers claim as Celtic close in on title

It is safe to say that things have not been going the Rangers’ way in recent times and their defeat at the hands of Celtic at Ibrox was just one, in a number of disappointing results this season. They ended up losing their following game against SC Braga, in the first leg of their Europa League tie as well. This is not what they would have hoped when Giovanni van Bronckhorst was appointed as the club’s manager.

Van Bronckhorst had arrived with high hopes, with the Dutch manager having a great record from his time at Feyenoord, who he had guided to multiple titles.

A few months on and things have certainly changed, and a lot of Rangers fans have raised questions about his long-term future at the club. While the Ibrox side have pulled off a couple of impressive wins in Europe, their domestic record has fallen flat under the management of Van Bronckhorst till now.

Kris Boyd believes that there is a different feel to the group and there are players who have fallen out of favour. The former Rangers star wrote in his column in The Scottish Sun:

"I’m not in the dressing room and have no inside word of any rifts, but since Van Bronckhorst has become boss there is a different feel to the group.A few players’ performance levels have dropped domestically.If there was a problem it would have been the same in Europe — but it hasn’t been.There are players who have clearly fallen out of favour. I mean, what on earth has happened with Steven Davis?At a time when the team needs leaders, he’s nowhere to be seen."

While things are not going the Rangers’ way, for Celtic, the focus has to be solely on themselves, as the title is within touching distance.

At the start of the season, they had been completely written off by pundits and fans alike, as they lost three of their first six Premiership games of the season. They have not lost since.

But Ange Postecoglou’s side cannot get complacent and take their foot off the gas for a second. Their is still a lot of work to be done if they are to win the Premiership title this season. Thankfully, Celtic do not look like a team that is afraid to work for it.
