St Johnstone suffer double blow before facing Celtic

Celtic are coming off of a huge result, having gotten a 2-1 win away against the Rangers at Ibrox. That has put them six points ahead in the title race, with just six games left to be played. Thus, it is a great position to be in for Ange Postecoglou’s side. But at the same time, that is when teams can be at their most vulnerable. Thus, the Hoops must be careful not too let their foot off the gas even for one game.

Their next opponents in the Premiership are St Johnstone and it is safe to say that every game is important for Celtic at the moment.

On the other hand, St Johnstone have a lot to play for as well, as they sit at 11th in the Premiership table right now. But they have hit form in recent weeks, having won two straight and are unbeaten in their last three games.

They have their fair share of worries as well. It looks like Tony Gallacher is out for the rest of the season. As reported by The Courier, Callum Davidson said about him:

"“He’s been for an x-ray and it hasn’t come back positive. It looks like a fracture, which would mean he’s out for the rest of the season.”"

On the other hand, Dan Cleary needed stitches as well, as the manager said:

"“From the other one, Dan Cleary has ended up needed stitches on the top of his foot.”"

It goes without saying that these are a couple of big blows for St Johnstone. On the other hand, things are looking up for Celtic on the injury front as Kyogo Furuhashi is expected to make his return to action at the weekend, in what would be his first appearance this year.

Celtic have to be careful though. While St Johnstone are not going through a good season this time around, they did win the Cup double in the previous campaign.

Thus, their quality is undeniable and they are in form as well. As a result, if Celtic are able to get all three points against them, it would be a huge boost for the club.
