Celtic’s biggest worry in recent months has been the absence of Kyogo Furuhashi, who has been out of action since December, having picked up a long-term injury. After more than three months though, he has been back in training and there were many fans who were hoping to see him feature against the Rangers at Ibrox, after he had been declared fit leading up to the game.

Kyogo was left out of the matchday squad against the Rangers though. Thus, questions have been raised about when he will actually make his return to the pitch.

There is an update on that situation, as it looks like he was not brought back into the fold against the Rangers, so as not to rush him back into action. But Kyogo is fit and he will be involved next week in the game against St Johnstone.

As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Ange Postecoglou told BBC Sportsound about Kyogo’s current situation:

"“He’s ready to go, he’ll be fine and he’ll be involved next week.”"

Kyogo has not been available for a long time now and fortunately, the club have done quite well even in his absence. But there is no question about the Japanese star’s incredible quality and he will be bringing a lot to this team when he does make his return.

There is some tough competition for places up front now though, with Giorgos Giakoumakis in stunning form since after the winter break and Daizen Maeda proving his value to the team even though he is not scoring a lot.

Thus, it will be interesting to see how Postecoglou will fit Kyogo back into the starting XI once he is back to form and fitness. The Japanese star is without doubt too good to be left on the bench, but at the same time, would it be smart to tweak a formula that has worked brilliantly over the past few months?
