The upcoming Glasgow Derby at Ibrox might be the most important game of the campaign for both Celtic and the Rangers. As things stand, Ange Postecoglou’s side lead the title race by three points. But, Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side will have the chance to wipe that lead off and get back level on points this weekend. It goes without saying that a lot is riding on the result of this match.

Celtic must be confident of their chances, having dominated the Rangers when the two sides met the last time around. The game at Parkhead ended 3-0 in favour of the Hoops.

But at the same time, they cannot be too confident either. At the end of the day, their record against the Rangers in recent years is not great. Celtic last won a game away at Ibrox back in 2019.

The Ibrox side have suffered a major injury blow heading into the game though. While speaking in his press conference, as reported by 67 Hail Hail, Van Bronckhorst said about Alfredo Morelos:

"“We will know in the coming days because he will be assessed longer but I think it will be a long-term injury. We don’t know how long yet but hopefully we can give you more news after the weekend. He’s out for sure.“He had an injury while on duty with Colombia, a muscle injury. Unfortunately for him, for all of us, he won’t be available on Sunday.“We don’t know yet if he is out for the season but we won’t have him back in the next couple of weeks that’s for sure.”"

Rangers set to miss Morelos in the game against Celtic at Ibrox

It is no secret that Morelos’ record against Celtic is not great. But he has been a key player for Rangers this season. Thus, if he is out for any considerable length of time, it could be a blow for them in the Premiership and in Europe.

For Celtic though, the focus must be firmly on the task at hand, and not worry about which Rangers players will be available and which not.

Postecoglou’s side must prepare for the best version of the Rangers and hopefully, they can get something out of the game at Ibrox. That would be a huge result when it comes to the title race, as it would mean that the gap would remain at three points or potentially extend to six, with six league games left.
