Sky Sports give update on Cameron Carter-Vickers’ Celtic future
It is safe to say that Cameron Carter-Vickers has been an excellent addition to this Celtic squad. Having coming through the youth ranks at Tottenham Hotspur, the centre-back never quite found a place for himself in the first-team at the Premier League club. As a result, he ended up spending several spells out on loan at a series of Championship clubs before moving to Parkhead on a temporary basis last summer.
Carter-Vickers has been a regular in the heart of Celtic’s defence since arriving in the summer and he might very well be the best defender at the club right now.
Thus, it is safe to say that most fans would be hoping that Celtic are able to sign him on a permanent basis from Tottenham Hotspur.
As reported by Sky Sports, Celtic have opened talks with Tottenham Hotspur over making Carter-Vickers’ loan move permanent and one source has said that the talks between the two clubs are based around the structure of any potential deal. An initial fee of £6 million is in the agreement of the loan and it is understood that there is no room for movement on the overall price for the American centre-back.
Can Celtic sign Carter-Vickers on a permanent deal in the summer?
If Celtic are able to sign Carter-Vickers on a permanent basis, it would be a major coup on the part of the club. He has been one of the biggest reasons behind the improvement that the Hoops have shown at the back this season.
But there are some rumours which have suggested that the total cost of a Carter-Vickers transfer could be up to £10 million.
If that is indeed the case then one has to raise doubts about whether Celtic would make a move for Carter-Vickers as it would mean shattering their transfer record. Let’s see how things turn out.
