Celtic have had quite a few players out on loan this season, as it was clear that some of them would not get regular playing time at Parkhead. It has proven to be a terrible end to his loan spell for Scott Robertson though, with an injury ruling the midfielder out for the rest of the 2021/22 campaign, as he has returned to Parkhead to continue his rehab.

Emerging through the youth ranks of Celtic, the 20-year-old is highly-rated at Parkhead. Last summer, Crewe Alexandra signed Robertson on loan.

The youngster picked up a good pace in England as well, playing regular football for the League One side early on. But towards the end of the year, his game time began to drop, owing to suspension and injury problems.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, he made 23 appearances for Crewe Alexandra in all competitions. He sustained an injury though, that required him to undergo surgery and ruled him out for the rest of the ongoing season. As a result, he is back in Glasgow, where he will continue his rehabilitation after a successful operation.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, Robertson posted pictures of him at Crewe Alexandra on social media with the caption reading:

"“Gutted the way it ended, back soon.”"

Robertson made his senior debut for Celtic in a Europa League fixture against CFR Cluj in 2019, which, however, remains his only first-team appearance for the Hoops till now.

Since then, he has spent time out on loan at multiple clubs. He joined Gillingham in the summer of 2020. He would be recalled by Celtic though and was sent on loan to Doncaster Rovers for the second half of the season. Crewe Alexandra was the third club that he was on loan at.

It will be interesting to see where Robertson’s career goes from here. It is believed that he has a contract till the summer of 2023 at Celtic.
