Celtic have been missing Kyogo Furuhashi for much longer that they would have hoped for. Initially, the Japanese star had been injured in the Europa League game against Real Betis in early December. But he would return in time to guide the Hoops to the Scottish Cup by scoring a brace in the final against Hibernian despite not being 100 per cent. Unfortunately, just a week later, he was injured again.

Initially, it was not thought to be a serious injury and there were hopes that he could be back in action after the winter break. It has been more than three months now though, and we are yet to see Kyogo back in action.

He has been pictured training on his own recently but there has not been an official update on when he could be back on the pitch.

Simon Donnelly believes that it might be too soon for Kyogo to feature against the Rangers at Ibrox this weekend but he might be back in time for the Scottish Cup semi-final against Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side at Hampden Park. As reported by the Daily Record, he said on The Go Radio Football Show:

"“He’s been out for three months and three days.“I have heard that he is back training, but I think Sunday may come too soon for him.“I think maybe they are looking more at the Scottish Cup semi-final. I think that might be more realistic.”"

It might be too early for Kyogo to make his Celtic return vs Rangers

Kyogo has been one of the best signings that Celtic have made in a long, long time and he was without doubt, the club’s player of the season in the first half of the campaign.

He has not featured even once this year though as he has been out on the sidelines dealing with his injury. And we can only hope that he is back as soon as possible. But, at the same time, it is important that he returns to the pitch when he is fully fit, in order avoid any injury setbacks.

In the absence of Kyogo, Giorgos Giakoumakis has stepped up to the plate and done an incredible job of leading the line for Celtic.
