Celtic’s upcoming game against the Rangers, away at Ibrox, might very well be the most important fixture of their season. As things stand, the Hoops have a 3 point lead in the Premiership table but it goes without saying that that is not a significant advantage, and can be overturned in a single game. Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side will get the opportunity to attempt to do that after the international break, when the two Glasgow giants meet.
A win away at Ibrox would be a huge result for Celtic and could even spell the end of the title race. But even a draw would be a massive positive for the Hoops.
Heading into the game, Celtic have been handed a major boost as it looks like Nir Bitton is set to return from international duty early as a result of the big game.
As reported by Walla Sport (via Daily Record), Bitton will be allowed to return to Scotland in anticipation of the huge game coming up and it is believed that that was always the plan for him in this international break.
Celtic handed boost by early Bitton return ahead of big game vs Rangers
It is safe to say that this is a welcome boost for Celtic. While Bitton has not been a regular member of the starting XI this season, there is no doubt about the fact that he is an important part of this squad, both as a player and as a leader.
He has tremendous experience of being a part of these Glasgow Derbies, which cannot be said about a number of the club’s players at the moment, several of whom only arrived in the summer.
Thus, his experience could be very handy heading into a game of this magnitude with possible title implications as well.
