As things stand, Celtic hold a three-point advantage over the Rangers in the Premiership title race. But the Ibrox side will have the opportunity to wipe that lead off, when the two sides meet soon. It is a game of huge magnitude without any doubt and the result on the day could potentially end up determining where the Premiership title will end up at the end of the campaign.

When the two sides had earlier met at Ibrox this season, the Rangers had managed to get themselves a 1-0 win although one could argue that Celtic were the much better team on the day, but they were wasteful in front of goal.

The next game between the two Glasgow giants, this time at Parkhead, was completely dominated by Celtic and ended in 3-0 win for the Hoops. Thus, it will be very interesting to see what happens the third time out.

Ange Postecoglou has always claimed that the title might not even be decided by the results of the Glasgow Derbies but even he admitted that this game could have big consequences. As reported by the Daily Record, the manager told Celtic TV:

"“It’s a great challenge for us.“I think the first game there we didn’t get the result we wanted but I thought our performance wasn’t too bad, it was a pretty tight game.“There wasn’t a lot of chances for either side, they took theirs.“We had a couple we didn’t take, there is no doubt it’s going to be a great occasion, you want to go into these games, firstly, in good form, which we are.“And secondly knowing there’s big consequences to the outcome, It’s a great position for us to be in, I know the players will be looking forward to it.”"

Postecoglou makes confession about upcoming Rangers vs Celtic game

There is no doubt about the fact that this is one of the most important Glasgow Derbies in a long, long time. For the first time in almost a decade, the title race has been this close between Celtic and the Rangers.

And it is hard to know what to expect from this game to be very honest. While Celtic have been in very good form in the league, the Rangers have risen to the occasion almost every time in Europe till now, even getting past Borussia Dortmund in a knockout tie.

Thus, on their day, both these teams can come up with a big result. Let’s just hope that Celtic are on the top of their game on the day. A win would be massive but even a draw away at Ibrox would be a brilliant result at this stage of the season.
