Celtic broke their run of poor results against the Rangers earlier this year, as they got a dominant 3-0 win over Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side at Parkhead. It was a huge result to say the least as it took the club back to the top of the Premiership table after a long, long time. And they have managed to hold on to that position since then, as we head into the next Glasgow Derby, this time set to be played at Ibrox.

When it comes to Glasgow Derby debuts, very few in history have had a better one than what Reo Hatate produced in the previous game between Celtic and the Rangers.

The Japanese star scored a wonderful brace and then assisted the third, guiding Ange Postecoglou’s team to an incredible result.

It must have been one of the biggest games of his career but Hatate rose to the occasion instead of wilting under it. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, he told the Celtic View [Volume 57, Issue 3, page 54]:

"“I felt the passion of the supporters, and it was higher than any other game I’ve played. This was more than just a derby, it was a game for first or second place, so it meant even more to everyone.“Both goals were very nice for me, especially the second. It was pretty much my style because I controlled the ball and I finished the way I always like to.”"

Hatate could be very important for Celtic once again against Rangers

Hatate made a stunning start to life at Celtic, putting in some incredible displays in his first few appearances for the club, which included the Glasgow Derby win against the Rangers.

He has gone through a downturn in form since then though, but has found his feet once again, as he put in an excellent display in the middle of the park against Ross County.

Thus, when the Glasgow Derby rolls around once again, this time at Ibrox, it is very possible that Hatate could have a huge role to play.

He has already shown that he is someone who has the ability to rise up to the occasion and let’s see if he can do that in the club’s upcoming game against their crosstown rivals.
