Celtic did not have a very deep squad in the first half of the campaign and things became even more difficult for them as one player after the other went down with injuries. Thus, it is a huge credit to the manager as well as the players that they lifted the Scottish League Cup and still find themselves at the top of the Premiership, with a 3 point lead over the Rangers.

But, even during those circumstances, there were some players who could not get regular playing time in the first-team. Boli Bolingoli was one of them.

Bolingoli had been brought in in the summer of 2019, as Kieran Tierney departed Celtic for Arsenal. It is safe to say that he has come nowhere close to replacing the Scottish international though.

And thus, it was seen as the correct move when the club agreed a loan deal for Bolingoli till the end of the season with FC Ufa. But now, it looks like that has collapsed.

Bolingoli set for Celtic return as loan deal collapses

As reported by Glasgow Times, Bolingoli’s loan deal with Russian club, FC Ufa, has collapsed as he failed to get a work visa. Thus, it looks like he is set to return to Celtic.

This is an unfortunate scenario for both Bolingoli and Celtic, as he does not have a clear role in the team and right now, there is not any opportunity to send him out on loan to any other club either. As a result, it looks like he will remain at Parkhead even though there is not a lot of scope for minutes.

Let’s see how things play out here for Bolingoli but it is safe to say that he does not find himself in a great position right now, with very little hope of first-team football, at least till the end of the season.
