As we head into the last few games of the Premiership season, it is safe to say that the title race between Celtic and the Rangers is heating up. The Hoops hold a 6-point lead right now but have played a game more than Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side. Things are tighter this time around than they have been in a decade and ultimately, the remaining two Glasgow Derbies in the league could end up deciding the fate of the trophy.

Thus, it is no surprise that those associated with Celtic are being questioned about the Rangers and vice versa.

Ange Postecoglou’s side had a slight advantage this matchday, as they played before their Glasgow rivals. They made the most of the opportunity as well, getting a dominant 4-0 win over Ross County, which would have definitely put some pressure on the Rangers.

Carl Starfelt became the latest Celtic player to be asked about the Rangers and he had the perfect reply. As reported by The Scottish Sun, he said:

"“No, we’re not thinking about Rangers.“We know it’s seven games left for us, and that we have everything in our own hands.“So, we’re just focusing game-by-game and we’re not looking at them.“We’ve done it all year, not getting ahead of ourselves, just taking it game- by-game. That’s what we’ll keep doing.”"

Postecoglou as well as the Celtic players have maintained throughout the season that they are not focusing on other teams. And it is safe to say that it has served them well.

Celtic’s title chances had been written off after the first 6 league games of the season, out of which they had lost three. They have not suffered a domestic defeat since then and now sit ahead of the Rangers in the Premiership table.

But they cannot afford to take on the upcoming games lightly. While Celtic are in the driver’s seat right now, it is important for them to get some positive results in the two remaining Glasgow Derbies still to be played in the league.

Although they did beat the Rangers 3-0 the last time the two sides met, Celtic’s recent record against them is not very good.
