In recent years, Celtic have had a tough time keeping hold of some of their most talented players. Several of them have ended up departing the Parkhead club even before they can make a proper impact on the first-team picture and ended up joining European clubs like Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Leeds United and others. It is safe to say that the Hoops have to find a way to prevent this from happening.

One more name that looks set to be added to that list soon is that of Ben Doak, who has already made a few appearances for the first-team, including in the recent Glasgow Derby against the Rangers.

The 16-year-old is certainly one of the most highly-rated players in Celtic’s youth ranks right now and he is catching the interest of some of the biggest clubs in the world already.

Doak has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool for a while now and Jurgen Klopp’s side look like the favourites to sign him. But as reported by the Daily Mail, Chelsea have also expressed an interest in signing the youngster.

Chelsea and Liverpool are both interested in Celtic youngster

Not only is bringing though youngsters a big part of the identity of Celtic as a football club but at the same time, it is also important for them when it comes to competing with other clubs from the top five European leagues, with whom the Hoops cannot compete financially.

Doak is known to be a Celtic fan but it looks like a move to the Premier League at this age might be something that is too good to turn down for him.

At the moment, it does feel like Liverpool are more likely to sign him than Chelsea, as the London club find themselves staring at an uncertain future with a change in ownership set to take place.
