Celtic receive Cameron Carter-Vickers transfer boost

Celtic pulled off arguably their most important move of the summer when they signed Cameron Carter-Vickers from Tottenham Hotspur on loan in the final stages of the transfer window. The club had been linked with the defender throughout the summer but a move had not transpired until late on. It is safe to say though that it was worth the wait as the United States international has been a standout performer at Parkhead.

It would not be a stretch to claim that he is the best and most consistent defender at Celtic right now. And the club would surely be hoping to make his loan deal permanent in the summer.

That is easier said than done though because of the fact that there is expected to be heavy competition for Carter-Vickers’ signature after he has impressed with his displays for Celtic. The Hoops do have an option to buy included in the deal.

Amidst all this, Celtic appear to have been handed a boost in their quest to keep the Tottenham Hotspur loanee. As reported by GiveMeSport, transfer insider Dean Jones said:

"“I think that Carter-Vickers is very keen, because he feels like he can become part of the project there long-term, and I think it’s one that is realistic to be honest.”"

Carter-Vickers has been part of Tottenham Hotspur for years but has never managed to nail down his place in the senior team there. As a result, most of his career has been spent out on loan at different clubs.

At Celtic, it does feel like he can remain for the long term and looks like an important part of Postecoglou’s project at Parkhead.

A lot will depend on whether Celtic are able to agree a deal with Tottenham Hotspur for Carter-Vickers though. Some rumours have suggested that his transfer might take a fee around £10 million, and it is hard to imagine the Hoops shelling out that kind of a figure. It would shatter the club’s transfer record.
