Celtic made quite a few big signings in the summer as the squad underwent a massive overhaul. Things could have gone very wrong for the Hoops but thankfully, that did not end up being the case. Instead, they have gone as well as anyone could have expected as the club have already added the Scottish League Cup to their trophy cabinet, are in the Scottish Cup semi-final and are leading the Rangers in the Premiership title race by three points.
Thus, it is safe to say that this season must be considered as a success for Celtic, no matter how it ends. And a lot of credit goes to the new signings, who have arrived and immediately made an impact.
One of them is Joe Hart. He has arrived from Tottenham Hotspur and immediately established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper at Parkhead as well as a leader in this team, a figure that they needed after Scott Brown’s summer exit.
And Manchester City’s Cieran Slicker has named him as his idol. In a video published by the Premier League champions on their official website, and as reported by 67 Hail Hail, the young goalkeeper said:
"“He’s my idol. Growing up watching him when I was ball-boying. I’ve been lucky enough to speak to him a bit over the past few years which is really nice and getting to know him a little bit and obviously giving me advice.“But yes there’s nobody better in my opinion and obviously from City and stuff the career he’s had is amazing.”"
Manchester City player names Celtic star as his idol
A lot of eyebrows were raised when Celtic signed Hart from Tottenham Hotspur and understandably so, as he had not been a first-team goalkeeper for a few years at that point of time. But he has proven a lot of people wrong.
Not only has Hart been great between the posts and brought some stability to that position, after a shaky 2020/21 campaign, but he has brought a lot to the table with his leadership qualities and experience as well.
It is not hard to see why he would be the idol of someone like Slicker, who has come up through the youth ranks at Manchester City, a club where Hart is a legend.
