Giako, Treble, more: 3 things we learned from Celtic vs Dundee United
Celtic just can’t avoid availability issues
Celtic’s biggest problem this season has not been their performances on the pitch but the series of injuries that they have had to deal with, one after another.
The first half of the campaign was terrible in this regard, but after adding five more players in January, it has looked like they have brought that situation under a bit more control.
That does not mean that the club still do not have their issues though. For example, two key players in Kyogo and David Turnbull have been out of action for a while. And lot of Celtic fans must have been very worried when they saw that both Jota and Liel Abada were missing not only from the starting XI but the bench as well, in the game against Dundee United.
Fortunately, since then, there have been suggestions that neither of them has a serious issue. But it is pretty clear that Celtic have continued to struggle with availability issues despite making multiple additions to their ranks in January.
A potential Treble is still on
Who could have thought when Ange Postecoglou had been appointed as manager that Celtic would be competing in all three domestic fronts, at this point of the campaign?
The club had finished trophyless and 25 points behind the Rangers in the Premiership last season and then had had to undergo a major transformation in the summer.
Thus, it is safe to say that the manager as well as the players deserve a lot of credit for how well they have done.
The club have already won the Scottish League Cup and could still end up winning the treble. They are in the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup and lead the league by three points. It will be difficult to pull off but never say never.
