Celtic got the job done once again, as they scored three goals past Dundee United away at Tannadice Park to advance to the Scottish Cup semi-finals. Callum McGregor opened the scoring from range, as he has done so many times over the years, before Giorgos Giakoumakis scored a brace, to hand the Hoops a 3-0 win on the evening.

This victory will go a long way in giving Celtic a major boost in their league quest as well, with the club set to face Ross County next.

With just three points separating the two Glasgow sides, it is safe to say that each and every game is very important right now.

The Hoops had looked completely out of form recently but have put in a couple of impressive performances in back-to-back games. Ange Postecoglou should definitely be delighted.

Giakoumakis is a fox in the box

Many people had written Giakoumakis off after he spent most of the first half of the season out on the sidelines, struggling with injuries.

But since Kyogo Furuhashi has been out injured, Giakoumakis has emerged as the club’s first-choice striker and there is no question about the fact that he has established himself as a very important part of this team.

Even when Kyogo is back, it would be very difficult for Postecoglou to drop Giakoumakis back to the bench. That is how good he has been.

Here he scored a couple of goals and both had a hint of luck involved in them. But at the end of the day, he is showing the ability to find the back of the net consistently by being a fox in the box while also making those around him looking better. Thus, Giakoumakis might be exactly the kind of player that this team needed.
