Celtic find themselves in a good, if not great, position right now as they sit 3 points ahead of the Rangers in the league. Not many could have predicted that coming into the season, after the Ibrox side had finished the previous campaign an incredible 25 points ahead of their Glasgow rivals. With 8 league games left to be played, the title race is well and truly on for sure, this time around.
One difference at the Rangers this time is that Steven Gerrard is no longer their manager. He decided to leave the club in the middle of this season in order to take the Aston Villa job.
The Rangers were in the front seat back then, but problems were clearly visible at Ibrox. And since then, they have fallen behind Celtic in the league, even though their performances in Europe remain consistently good.
"“They’re involved in a really exciting title race right now and I’m looking forward to watching it to see how it progresses.“Obviously, I hope the trophy ends up back at Ibrox.”"
Gerrard makes Celtic-Rangers title race claim
There is no hiding from the fact that a title race is there this time around. Arguably for the first time in a decade in Scotland and it could very well go right down to the wire.
Celtic have shown tremendous improvement this season and actually find themselves in the better position right now. But as we have already seen during the course of this season, things can take a turn very quickly.
The Rangers had a 6-point lead coming out of the winter break but less than two months later find themselves chasing their Glasgow rivals. Thus, a 3-point lead is nothing to get comfortable about.
There are still 8 league games to go and a lot of football left to be played, including a couple of Glasgow Derbies. Thus, Celtic have to continue getting their results, without looking at what is happening on the other side of the city.
