Celtic have exceeded all expectations this season. When their attempts to bring in Eddie Howe failed to transpire and the club brought in Ange Postecoglou as manager, it is safe to say that there were many fans who had already written off the campaign in their minds as a transitional one with not much hope for success. Reality has been very different though, as the Hoops have already added to their trophy cabinet and could potentially even win back the league.
As things stand, they hold a 3-point advantage in the Premiership title race with 8 league games left to be played.
Of course, nothing is set in stone yet and with a couple of Glasgow Derbies still to be played, anything can happen. But whether they finish first or second, this season has to be considered as a success for Celtic.
And one of the biggest reasons for that is the dedication and determination that the players have shown. Joe Hart has revealed that the squad did not take a break even when there was an opportunity to do so recently. They did not even think about it. As reported by Glasgow Times, the Celtic goalkeeper said:
"“We had an opportunity to have the odd day off but the manager made it clear that it was a good opportunity for us to work as a group.“That’s something that we haven’t had all year. There’s no time to rest. We’ve got big games coming up. It wasn’t even a thought process. We’ve got work to do.”"
Hart makes exciting Celtic revelation with big games coming up
This just goes on to show that the squad has bought in to Postecoglou’s football and we can clearly see the results on the pitch.
Even on days that they are not on the top of their game, Celtic have managed to find ways to get results. And till now, that has arguably been the biggest difference between the two Glasgow sides.
Now, with 8 more league games and the Scottish Cup fixtures left to be played, the Hoops could end up contending for a treble. Not bad for what was considered a season that was destined to end without silverware.
