Celtic’s recent history with loan signings has not been great. But they pulled off two incredible ones in the summer, when they brought in Jota, from Benfica, and Cameron Carter-Vickers, from Tottenham Hotspur, on temporary deals till the end of the season. It is safe to say that both of them have come in and been integral parts of Ange Postecoglou’s starting XI. The club have an option to buy included in both deals.

It remains to be seen whether they end up triggering them though. While both Jota and Carter-Vickers are regulars for Celtic right now, it is very possible that their futures might lie elsewhere.

It goes without saying that most Celtic fans want both Jota and Carter-Vickers to be signed on permanent deals. Ultimately though, it might come down to the players and where they want to play moving forward.

Amidst all this, Postecoglou has admitted that he has no problem with whatever they decide to do in the future as long as they show their full commitment while they are at Celtic. As reported by The Herald, the manager said:

"“Both Cameron and Jota are saying all they need to say to me with their performances. They have been outstanding contributors all year and a great young men as well and I am loving having them as part of his football club.“That’s fine [if they can earn more money]. I would never deny that. We could get offers for some of our other players, depending on how we finish the season. That’s the choices they make. There’s no problem. If that’s what they desire for their next move, I have no issue with them, but while you are here with me, you give everything you can to this football club to make it successful and if you do that then whatever your next step is I am happy for you.”"

Jota had enjoyed a tremendous first half of the season, and had looked like arguably the best player in all of Scotland for a period of time. Since returning from the injury he picked up in December, he has not been able to replicate that form but remains a key member of the team.

On the other hand, one could argue that Carter-Vickers is the best defender at Celtic right now and has been solid since arriving on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.

While it does not feel like he will be a part of Antonio Conte’s first-team picture anytime soon, his performances at Celtic might hand him opportunities at other clubs.
