How Scott Brown might end up playing part in Celtic title win

It appears that Celtic legend Scott Brown might possibly have brought an end to his historic playing career after it was announced that he had departed Aberdeen. The 36-year-old joined the Dons last summer in a player-coach role, but has ended his time at Pittodrie Stadium less than a year into his contract after the exit of manager Stephen Glass and arrival of Jim Goodwin.

Now, it is very possible that the former Celtic captain could focus on his development as a coach, although it is still unclear whether he has hung up his boots or not.

Broony lifted ten league titles during his time with Celtic, alongside multiple other trophies and his arms must have been tired lifting silverware by the time he departed Parkhead.

The man who helped bring Brown to Celtic from Hibernian, Gordon Strachan, paid a beautiful tribute to the Scottish midfielder. As reported by the Daily Record, the former manager said:

"“The game is going to miss having a player like Scott around.“And it’ll be the same across the Scottish media too. People will be scratching their heads and thinking, ‘What do we do now? We’ve had so many stories from this fella!’.“Whether it was great moments on the pitch – good fun, daft or sometimes stupid – he’s been a real giant over the years and guys like him don’t come around too often.”"

He also observed how his last goal, poetically against the Rangers at Ibrox, could prove to be vital in the title race come the end of the season, as Strachan told the Daily Record:

"“Even this season at Aberdeen he scored that diving header at Ibrox against Rangers. So he’s still helping even now by taking two points off Rangers!“Can you just imagine if Celtic end up winning this title by just one point? He’s the guy who keeps on giving.”"

Could Brown be instrumental in one final Celtic title triumph

Brown wasn’t among the best technical players in the world. But he was among the most passionate. When someone like Broony is in the dressing room, a team’s mentality can be its biggest asset. And at times, that was true for Celtic.

Whatever is next for Brown, it’s hard to imagine a scenario where he doesn’t find success, if he brings the same passion to the table that he did while playing.
