It would be an understatement to say that Ange Postecoglou has done a fantastic job since arriving as Celtic manager in the summer. Expectations were very low when the appointment was made. Initially, the club had been linked with Eddie Howe for months before that failed to materialise. And on top of that, they were coming off of a 2020/21 campaign, when they had finished trophyless and 25 points behind the Rangers.

One must not ignore the magnitude of the squad overhaul that took place at Parkhead over the past two transfer windows as well.

Celtic signed twelve new players in the summer, ten on a permanent basis and two on loan, and then added a further five to their ranks in January.

Thus, it is safe to say that whatever Postecoglou has done since arriving, has worked. And one of the most impressive things about the manager is how he approaches the game of football and his entire philosophy surrounding the game.

Postecoglou has revealed that he does not spend much time in the dressing room with the players on game day. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, he told Open Goal:

"“I’ve always felt that the game day is the players’ day.“I don’t go in the dressing room until literally sort of, 10 minutes before the boys run out. I stay out of the dressing room.“That’s their space. I don’t even go out to see the warm-up, I leave them to their own devices.”"

Thus, it looks like Postecoglou is the type of manager who believes in preparing early and then giving the game day to the players themselves, in order to work things out on their own.

And that is an approach that has certainly worked till now, on most occasions, for Celtic, as they have won the Scottish League Cup and sit at the top of the Premiership table, three points ahead of the Rangers with eight league games left to be played.

Of course, there is no perfect approach to football. It is an art form at the end of the day. But it is safe to say that Postecoglou has his own distinct style of doing things.
