Scott Brown called time on a glittering Celtic career in the summer to head to Aberdeen, to take on a player-coach role. The former Hoops captain’s arms must have been tired lifting one trophy after another for years, and it looked like he was ready to slowly make a transition into coaching, even though he might have a few years left on the pitch as well. It is safe to say that things have not gone as he would have hoped for at Pittodrie Stadium.

Stephen Glass was shown the exit door in the middle of a disappointing campaign and Jim Goodwin has been brought in as manager since then.

Glass was believed to have had a huge role to play in Brown’s decision to join Aberdeen though, with the two having been teammates at Hibernian in the past. Thus, it should not come as a surprise that questions were raised about the former Celtic captain’s future, following recent events.

And as reported by the Daily Record, Brown is on the verge of making a shock decision to hang up his boots. It is understood that he has been locked in talks with Aberdeen as they discuss terminating the final year of his deal with immediate effect.

The Celtic legend could be set to hang up his boots

It is safe to say that the situation is far from ideal for Brown and it remains to be seen whether he ends up retiring.

If he does, then he must be very, very proud of what he has achieved through the course of his career, even if it might not come to the end that he was looking for.

Let’s see what the future holds for Broony. We can only wish him the best of luck, no matter what decision he ends up taking regarding his future.
