At clubs like Celtic, the focus is always on the present as well as the future. The club might have brought in twelve players in the summer and five more in the winter, but it looks like they are already looking out for signings that they could potentially make moving forward. And it appears that a Championship midfielder has caught their attention as well as that of the Rangers, and quite a few Premier League clubs.

Now, midfield is an area of strength for Celtic right now, considering the kind of options that they have in their ranks. But then, one has to admit that the likes of Ismaila Soro, James McCarthy and Yosuke Ideguchi have not made a huge impact this season till now.

The player that Celtic are being linked with is Coventry City’s Gustavo Hamer. He has been a standout in the Championship recently and was not only linked with Celtic and the Rangers, but multiple clubs in the Premier League as well.

Coventry City manager, Mark Robins, is not someone keen to comment on the speculation surrounding the midfielder though. As reported by Coventry Live, he said:

"“I am not going to comment on speculation. It is just speculation.“When something happens you will definitely know about it.”"

Celtic have been linked with a summer move for Hamer

Hamer has been a particular standout in the Coventry City team this season as they are enjoying a brilliant Championship campaign.

So much so, that it looks like the club might have a chance of even competing in the play-off rounds, if they can have a good end to their campaign and go on a run of wins.

As for Hamer, if he can continue to perform like this, a move away from Coventry City might not be far away for the former Netherlands youth international. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 2 goals and provided 6 assists in 27 Championship appearances this season.
