This might have been a great season for Karamoko Dembele to finally make a mark on the senior level for Celtic. James Forrest has struggled with both fitness and form for some time now, and as a result, it is very possible that the teenager could have established himself as the back-up option to Liel Abada on the right wing, if not more. But it is safe to say that luck was not on his side.

Karamoko would end up suffering a serious injury in pre-season in a game against Bristol City and after months out of action, it is only recently that he has returned to action. He came off the bench late in the second half against St Mirren.

There are already questions about Karamoko’s contract situation though and what the future holds for the youngster. His current deal runs out at the end of this season.

Ange Postecoglou has given an update on the situation. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, during a media conference, he said on Celtic’s official YouTube channel:

"“With the contract side of things, it’s kind of a two-way thing. That’ll depend on Karamoko himself and where he sees his future. We’ll sit down at the appropriate time with him and try to map out what’s best for him and what he thinks is best for him, then we’ll come to a decision.”"

It is safe to say that the situation is far from ideal for Celtic. Karamoko has been one of the most highly-rated youngsters at the club for quite some time but now, it looks like it is very possible that he could walk out as a free agent, without ever really making a mark at the senior level.

If Karamoko was to leave, there is not expected to be any lack of interest in the winger’s signature, considering the potential he has.

But with the style of football that Celtic have been playing since the arrival of Postecoglou as manager, Parkhead might be the perfect place for him to develop and improve moving forward. Of course, the decision is in the player’s hands right now.
